Hi I’m Sam!

As a British, TEFL-qualified English teacher, I’ve spent my career from London to Barcelona to Rome, developing a relaxed and effective teaching style.  I believe that learning a language should be engaging and confidence-boosting, not a chore.  My goal is to make English a natural skill you can use in exams, at work, and in everyday life.

For Children & Teenagers

I create a supportive environment where young learners can thrive, whether in a private lesson or a small group. My lessons are designed to be practical, enjoyable, and tailored to each student’s needs.

• Exam Preparation: From students aged 8-16 preparing for Cambridge exams at a private Italian school, to IGCSE English and Geography lessons, I help students confidently meet their academic goals.

• Face-to-Face Learning: Based in Rome on weekdays and Teramo on weekends, I offer private, in-person lessons for a more personal learning experience where we really do practice the art of conversation, something missing in learning English at school.

For Adults & Professionals

I also design flexible and practical English courses to fit your busy life and specific goals.

• Conversational English: For busy mums who want to improve their fluency, I offer 30-minute lunchtime conversation sessions.

• Business English: Tailored for professionals who need clear, confident communication in international workplaces.

• Group Programmes: I create bespoke courses for organisations like Slow Food Abruzzo’s Erasmus+ scheme and students, focusing on the practical English needed for hospitality and cultural exchange.

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe that language learning is deeply tied to culture. I learned this firsthand by teaching History of Art to Japanese University Foundation students in the UK. This unique experience taught me to create lessons that build the cultural and linguistic confidence you need to express your own thoughts and opinions.
